About Amazonia Mag

Amazonia Mag is the English-language edition of Revista Amazônia, a Brazilian news outlet dedicated to the Amazon rainforest. We report on the wildlife, plants, rivers, science and environmental issues of the world’s largest tropical forest, bringing original reporting to an international audience.

What we publish

Our articles are grounded in peer-reviewed studies, official data from institutions such as NOAA, the WMO and Brazilian research bodies, and on-the-ground reporting by the Revista Amazônia newsroom. Stories are curated, translated and adapted for an international audience — not machine-translated. When an article is based on a report first published in Portuguese, we link to the original source.

Who writes Amazonia Mag

Our Amazon coverage is written and edited by journalist Anne Silva, who specialises in the wildlife, flora and environmental science of the world’s largest tropical forest. She works together with the Revista Amazônia editorial team.

Her stories are grounded in peer-reviewed studies, official data and on-the-ground reporting by the Revista Amazônia newsroom in Belém, Pará, Brazil — published in Portuguese by Revista Amazônia and in English here at Amazonia Mag.
